Jeff Pierson’s two free throws with five seconds left lifted Wyoming to an 88-86 victory over Montana. Rebounding was a big factor in the outcome with Wyoming holding a 54-43 advantage. Wyoming led by 10 points at the half and held at 71-62 margin at the third quarter break. Ryan Williams scored 21 points for Wyoming and Montana got 22 points and 11 rebounds from 6’10” Daren Engellant.

MONTANA 90-79
Montana turned the tables on Wyoming and posted a 90-79 victory to raise its series advantage to 17-9. Kraig Abbey came off the bench to score 18 points. Daren Engellant and Wayne Synan contributed 16 each. Engellant grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Montana to a 49-37 domination on the boards. Corey Fulmer scored 14 points to lead Wyoming.
GAME 27, June 9, 1989, in Sheridan:
WYOMING 85-83
Marty Schad’s three point basket with 16 seconds left saved Wyoming an 85-83 victory. Wyoming, which had led by as many as 11 points in the first half, trailed 81-78 in the final minute. Dale Reed and Kreg Adams led Wyoming with 20 points each. Gary Kane of Butte scored 23 points to lead Montana. Chris Herriford of Gardiner added 16.
GAME 28, June 10, 1989, in Billings (METRA):
WYOMING 78-75
Wyoming completed its third sweep in series history by posting a 78-75 victory. Montana led 43-41 at halftime but Wyoming opened the second half with an 11-2 run keyed by 6’9” Brian Rewers of Thermopolis. Wyoming went on to build a 70-62 lead before Montana rallied to take a 73-72 advantage on a basket by Gary Kane. Wyoming responded with five straight points and never trailed again. Kreg Adams paced Wyoming with 16 points. Rewers contributed 14 and marty Schad and Scott Schroeffel added 10 each. Kane and Chris Herriford scored 16 apiece for Montana. Eric Hilleboe added 15.
GAME 29, June 15, 1990, in Sheridan:
MONTANA 122-58 (WON BY 64)
Montana overwhelmed Wyoming 122-58, to set records for margin of victory (64), most points in a half (70) and most points in a quarter (42). Montana led 52-27 at halftime and pulled away with 42 points in the fourth quarter. Jim Bement led Montana with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Robb Dundas grabbed 12 rebounds and scored 12 points.
GAME 30, June 16, 1990, in Billings (METRA):
WYOMING 75-73 (LOST BY 2)
In the final seconds, Bob Traylor scored from short range and Trevor Larson sank two free throws to give Wyoming a 75-73 victory at the Metra. Montana had come back from 16 points behind in the fourth quarter to lead 73-71. Kevin Gettings and Larson led Wyoming’s balanced scoring with 13 each. Curtis Smith scored 16 for Montana.

WYOMING 91-74
David Coffey and Demetrius Drew dominated the rebounding as Wyoming built a 53-27 halftime lead and the Cowboy State All-Stars held off a late rally to win 91-74. Brian Marso led Wyoming with 19 points. Coffey grabbed 12 rebounds and Drew 10. Tracy Davis scored 18 for Montana.

WYOMING 97-96 (Wyoming Player Broke Backboard Slam Dunk)
Matt Stock sank two free throws with 17 seconds left to give Wyoming a 97-96 victory. Stock scored Wyoming’s final seven points. Brian Marso scored 23 points for Wyoming and Marc Bebout scored 22. Montana’s scoring leader was Tracy Davis with 21.
GAME 33, June 12, 1992, in Sheridan:
MONTANA 80-69
Montana went on a 30-11 scoring spree in the first 12 1/2 minutes of the second half, and wound up whipping Wyoming 89-69. Darby’s Kirk Walker, who shot a perfect 13-13 from the free throw line, topped Montana with 19 points. Bozeman’s Adam Leachman, who was 7-7 from the field, contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds. Montana trailed by as many as eight points on three occasions in the first half. The Treasure State cagers, however, came out more aggressive defensively in the second half and outscored Wyoming 22-11 in the third quarter. Montana also went on an 8-0 scoring binge to begin the fourth period.
GAME 34, June 13, 1992, in Billings (Rocky Mountain College):
MONTANA 95-73
In a game that at times resembled a highlight film, and at other times a YMCA tussle, Montana ran over Wyoming 95-73 in the second game of the 17th Annual Montana-Wyoming All-Star series at Rocky Mountain College’s Fortin Center. Montana scored the first 16 points of the game, an advantage it never lost as it ran its record in the series to 20-14. Point guard Kirk Walker again led Montana with 20 points and five assists. Billings Senior’s Tyler Dahlberg added 15 points, Shawn Samuelson of Broadus tallied 12 to go along with 11 rebounds, and Bozeman’s Matt Correa added 10 points for Montana. Wyoming missed its first 12 shots before Steven Doyle followed up a miss by Ben Lemke to make it 16-2 with 2:48 left in the first quarter.
GAME 35, June 11, 1993, in Sheridan:
MONTANA 111-94
Mike Hayter, Reece Gliko, and J.R. Camel led the Montana All-Stars on a 111-94 win over the Wyoming All-Stars. In all, six Montana players were in double figures. Cory Jones led the Wyoming All-Stars with 17 points, 9 of them coming via 3-point field goals. Montana outrebounded Wyoming 58-39.

After the easy win Friday night, Montana struggled Saturday night before winning 83-82. NOTE: J.R. Camel was selected Mr. Basketball for Montana and Corey Jones was chosen Mr. Basketball for Wyoming.

MONTANA 87-81
A 3-point goal by Trent Hickes broke a 67-67 tie and ignited a 9-0 run that carried Montana to an 87-81 victory. Montana got 7 points from Eric Allen and 13 from hickes. Wyoming trailed 63-53 when Jonath Jackson sparked a 14-4 run. Jackson, who scored eight points in the surge, finished with 25 points. Ben Phillips added 16.
GAME 38, June 11, 1994, in Billings (Montana State University - Billings):
MONTANA 87-86
Keith Erickson’s free throw with 35 seconds remaining lifted Montana to an 87-86 victory and its third consecutive series sweep. Montana led by as many as 12 points in the early going, but had to overcome a six-point deficit in the final four minutes. Ty O’Connor led Montana with 17 points. Erickson contributed 15 and mark Hamilton 14. Ben Phillips and Scott Sanderson had 15 each for Wyoming.

MONTANA 75-74
Kelly Darragh’s follow shot with five seconds left gives Montana a 75-74 victory. Danny Sprinkle led Montana with 14 points. Darragh added 12; Mark Hallock paced Wyoming with 15.
GAME 40, June 10, 1995, in Billings (Rocky Mountain College):
MONTANA 91-85
Montana rallied from a 10-point third quarter deficit to pull out a 91-85 victory. Danny Sprinkle and Mat Seidensticker combine for 16 points in the fourth quarter to spark the rally. Travis Walker scored 18 points for Montana. Seidensticker added 17; Wyoming got 20 from Levi Porter and 15 from Craig Ferris.
GAME 41, June 7, 1996, in Sheridan:
MONTANA 87-80 (W.S. 9)
John Lazosky scored 20 points and J.D. Solomon pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Montana to an 87-80 victory. It was Montana’s ninth straight series win. Mike Marso had 17 shots and Mark Rinn 16 for Wyoming.
GAME 42, June 8, 1996, in Billings:
WYOMING 94-92 (Over Time)
Mark Rinn’s two free throws with three seconds left in overtime gave Wyoming a 94-92 decision. The victory cut Montana’s series lead to 27-05. Mike marso tallied 20 points for Wyoming. John Lazosky had a 25 point, 11-rebound effort for Montana.

WYOMING 85-76 (Over Time)
Sam Handsborough of Gillette poured in 29 points, seven in overtime, to lead Wyoming to an 85-76 victory over Montana. Brett Keisel of Greybull added 21 for Wyoming. Richard McCormick of Hardin led Montana with 14.

WYOMING 83-81
Brett Keisel, a 6’7”, 240-pounder, scored Wyoming’s last seven points in an 83-81 victory. Keisel finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Sam Handsborough led Wyoming with 23. Helena’s Justin Brown scored 21 for Montana. The sweep was Wyoming’s first in the series since 1991.

A 35-point fourth-quarter gives Montana an 85-73 decision. Nick Walker scores nine points and Pete Conway eight to lead the surge. Kirk Stiles scores a game-high 20 for the Treasure State. Michael Ferris scores 19 for Wyoming.

Hot-shooting Wyoming rolls to 121-100 victory behind 22 points from Ryan Taylor and 21 each from Jeff Martini and Tony Schamber. Wyoming makes 51.4 percent of its field goal attempts and hits 28 of 32 free throws.

Jaycee Carroll’s 34 points and 52 percent shooting carry Wyoming past Montana 112-100. Wyoming scores 62 points in the second half, 27 from Carroll. Mike Chavez collected 18 points and 17 rebounds for Montana.

Six Montana players scored in double figures in a lopsided 114-53 win. Josh Huestis of Great Falls CMR led Montana with 21 points. The 61-point margin was the second-largest in the 35-year history of the series, surpassed only by Montana’s 64-point win in 1990. Wyoming’s 53 points was a series record low for either team.
